subject to planning. A 250,000 sq ft warehouse was previously let to soft furnishings company Dunelm Mill.

Also off Junction 15 of the M6 is ProLogis’ groundbreaking Sideway project. The site is currently being prepared, prior to construction of a 532,631 sq ft build-to-suit facility that sets new benchmarks in sustainable development. Consent has been granted for up to 643,529 sq ft of industrial/distribution space, and the scheme will be monitored by Nottingham University’s School of the Built Environment, and the results published for the benefit of the construction industry as a whole.

Direct access from J14 leads to ProLogis Park Stafford, where Screwfix already occupies a 544,685 sq ft unit (DC1), and Altecnic recently purchased 70,270 sq ft DC3. Still available are DC2 (127,845 sq ft) and DC4 (230,347 sq ft). The development is just eleven miles from the M6 Toll, 20 from the M5 and 27 miles from the M1.

Last, but not least, is ProLogis’ new, flagship, Midpoint scheme, in Minworth, Birmingham. Situated close to both Junctions 5 and 6 of the M6, the site is within a 5-mile radius of no less than nine other motorway junctions, with a 600,000-strong workforce at its disposal. The first phase of construction is underway and comprises two speculative buildings, of 235,500 sq ft (DC3) and 312,500 sq ft (DC4), with completion due in August and September respectively. Midpoint also offers four further built-to-suit units, of up to 120,000, 135,000, 167,500 and 435,500 sq ft, and has consent for around 1.3 million sq ft of industrial accommodation on the 65-acre site.

Darren, Associate Director, National Industrial & Logistics with DTZ, in London, won an Omega Seamaster watch – the one made famous by the spy – in the recent ProLogis Central M6 Corridor competition.

The promotion focused on ProLogis’ six developments along the UK’s arterial motorway, with entrants having to correctly answer a question on each of the schemes, to have their name entered into a prize draw for the prestigious Omega watch.

Darren said: "I was extremely shocked, and pleased, to win this watch from ProLogis after filling in the questions. I chose the Bond Watch because it is a fantastic timepiece."

ProLogis’ Central M6 Corridor comprises six, high-calibre, distribution warehouse developments along the middle section of the UK’s arterial motorway, from Crewe down to Birmingham. Furthest North is ProLogis Park Crewe, where a 360,000 square feet facility, in Weston Road with direct motorway access at Junction 16, is currently available. Crewe is a popular location for distribution companies, with Gallaghers next door, and Caldwell Communications, Bargain Booze and Partners Stationery all in the area.

At Chatterley Valley, Staffordshire, a 45-acre site has been earmarked for up to 950,000 sq ft of B8 accommodation, also with direct access to the M6, from Junctions 15 and 16. The site is currently being prepared. Meanwhile, at ProLogis Park Stoke (J15), in Campbell Road, a 380,000 sq ft unit is currently available, and a further second phase building (122,000 sq ft) is available on a build-to-suit basis,
